The Centre during COVID

Updated January 12, 2021

In light of the emergence of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre will be closed to in-person visits and tours though January 31, or possibly longer. Our top priority is the safety of all staff and visitors and we will be monitoring the provincial health and UBC directives closely as we approach this re-opening date. Information will be updated on this page accordingly.

In the interim, we hope you will engage with the Centre’s programs and services virtually. Ways to do this include:

Browse the Collections and Records online.

Learn about the history and legacy of residential schools by engaging with selected educational resources.

Join our electronic mailing list to receive monthly newsletters and learn about upcoming events and activities.

The Centre follows all guidance from health authorities and UBC to provide a healthy, safe and supportive environment. This includes:

  • Enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of spaces
  • Signage throughout the buildings to maintain physical distances
  • Maximum occupancy signage for offices and meeting rooms
  • Communal spaces restricted to ensure proper physical distancing
