Career opportunity: Cultural Support Program Coordinator for IRSHDC and UBC FNHL

The Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC) at UBC and the First Nations House of Learning (FNHL) are hiring for a new position of Cultural Support Program Coordinator.

This position will report to both Elizabeth Shaffer, Executive Director at the IRSHDC, and the FNHL Director Margaret Moss. The Cultural Support Program Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of a cultural support framework and training programs to ensure that visitors to the IRSHDC are able to access meaningful cultural support services that will enhance their experience at the Centre.

This critical role will lead the strengthening of cultural safety and humility programs to support and embed such practices on campus. The Cultural Support Program Coordinator will collaborate with FNHL, the Indian Residential School Survivor Society, Elders, and support service experts to ensure a variety of services are available to community members (e.g. Elder support, LGBTQ2S+, etc.). 

The position will also provide leadership with regards to addressing specific Cultural Safety training needs (i.e., trauma-informed practices, decolonizing education, Indigenous harm reduction).
